Thunderball

Thunderball

  • Designation: Professional Criminal
  • Nationality: American
  • Criminal Record: Extensive, with outstanding warrants for assault, property damage, and burglary.
  • Powers: Super-strength and endurance.
  • Unique Weapons: Dr. Franklin wields a wrecking ball “enchanted” by Norse “magic” in the same way his partner-in-crime The Wrecker has claimed his crowbar had.
  • Known History: Like the other members of the self-styled “Wrecking Crew,” Franklin was serving time with the criminal known as “The Wrecker” when the group gripped his enchanted crowbar simultaneously during a thunderstorm. When a lightning bolt struck the crowbar a portion of the weapon’s enchantment was passed to the other convicts, granting them superhuman abilities. Fortunately for the world, Thunderball and his partners in crime have not proven very effective in wielding their powers, as they have been defeated time and again and returned to prison.

Observations: “You recall the Wrecking Crew, I take it? You’ll be thrilled to hear that their smartest member, Dr. Eliot Franklin, is taking his solo act on the road again, working as a hired hand for The Hood. I’m sure the rest of the Wrecking Crew are still around and up to no good, but even among that bunch Thunderball has always been the toughest nut to crack. But what can you expect from a man who was building Gamma radiation bombs and hoping to profit from their sale?” — Jasper Sitwell

Storm

Storm

  • Gender: Female
  • Nation of Origin: Born in USA, raised in Egypt and Kenya
  • Enrolled: Second Class
Grade Point Average (GPA): 3.75
Danger Room Median Success Rate (DRMSR): 8.65
  • Active Mutations: Ororo’s mind is directly linked to Earth’s weather systems, allowing her to manipulate wind, lightening, rain, hail, fog and so on for a variety of effects.
  • Passive Mutations: None.
  • Hereditary Mutations? Unknown. I don’t know enough about Ororo’s family history to rule out the X-Gene in her relatives.
  • Student Background: Orphaned like so many of X-Men at an early age, Ororo grew up a pickpocket on the streets of Cairo. After her powers manifested themselves, however, Ororo wandered the continent of Africa, arriving at last in her mother’s native Kenya, where she was worshipped as a weather goddess by local tribespeople. There I found her and recruited into the X-Men, where she soon blossomed into one of its most effective members, one whom I feel entirely comfortable leading the team when necessary.
Notes: Due to some childhood trauma -- or, perhaps, her many free years riding the winds of the open veldt -- Ororo possesses a nearly crippling claustrophobia, or fear of enclosed places. I must do what I can to avoid selecting her for missions in which that phobia may prove a crippling flaw.

Executioner

Executioner

  • Given Name: Skurge (Surname unknown)
  • Classification: Extradimensional hostile (EDH)
  • Nationality: Asgardian
  • Criminal Record: Not applicable. As a designated EDH, however, SHIELD has flagged Executioner with an Always-Detain designation whenever he manifests in this plane of reality.
  • Powers: The same superstrength and endurance typical to native of Asgard.
  • Unique Weapon: A huge battleaxe that can (allegedly) cleave portals between realities
  • Known History: The Directorate knows little of the Executioner prior to his first appearance on Earth to attack Thor and his allies in the Avengers. SHIELD will have to defer to its resident expert on all matters Asgardian:
Observations:
“Skurge could number himself among Asgard’s finest defenders, but instead he had to fall in love with Amora the Enchantress, and once ensorceled by her feminine wiles began following her like a puppy dog into one mad scheme after another.

“My comrade Anthony Stark, whom the sagas rightly extol as The Iron Man, has suggested I gather together a group of my fellow Asgardians together to perform a Ritual of Purification on Skurge that Tony calls an ‘Intervention.’

To rid Skurge of Amora’s pernicious influence I would try almost anything, and have requested literature on these ‘Interventions’ from the keepers of knowledge upon Nicholas Fury’s floating Helicarrier.” — Thor

Piledriver

Piledriver

  • Classification: Professional Criminal
  • Nationality: American
  • Criminal Record: Extensive, with outstanding warrants for assault, property damage, and burglary.
  • Powers: Super-strength and endurance. Piledriver’s fists have been mutated to prodigious size.
  • Known History: Like the other members of the self-styled “Wrecking Crew,” Calusky was serving time with the criminal known as “The Wrecker” when the group gripped his enchanted crowbar simultaneously during a thunderstorm. When a lightning bolt struck the crowbar a portion of the weapon’s enchantment was passed to the other convicts, granting them superhuman abilities. Fortunately for the world, Piledriver and his partners in crime have not proven very effective in wielding their powers, as they have been defeated time and again and returned to prison.

Observations: “Karnilla, the Norn Queen, meant to send a bolt of power to my duplicitous brother, Loki, while he was entrapped on Midgard -- Earth -- and carelessly enchanted a common thug, The Wrecker, instead. Then he in turn ensorceled Bulldozer, Piledriver and the others.

And so evil begets evil begets evil. ‘Tis wearying that thus will always be the tale of both men and gods.” — Thor

Madam Masque

Madam Masque

  • Classification: Professional Criminal
  • Nationality: American (Dual Italian citizenship)
  • Powers: None.
  • Distinguished Characteristics: As her name implies, Madame Masque wears a gold mask to hide the disfigurement she received while in conflict with Iron Man.
  • Known History: Despite her gender, Madame Masque’s father groomed her to assume control of the powerful Maggia crime family the Nefarias from an early age. Infiltrating Stark Industries under the guise of Whitney Frost, she began to romance Tony Stark but her true identity was ultimately revealed and her schemes foiled by his alter ego, Iron Man. When the aircraft Ms. Nefaria used to flee the Armored Avenger crashed and horribly scarred her for life, she adopted the guise of Madame Masque and swore to devote as much of the resources of the Nefaria Family as possible to destroying her former lover.
Observations: Poor Giulietta. She wasn’t always crazy, and she wasn’t always scarred. That came from me. Not intentionally. I don’t wake up in the morning and think ‘Today I am going to drive some poor woman crazy. Well, sometimes I do. But it’s a figure of speech.” — Tony Stark (Iron Man)

Doctor Doom

Doctor Doom

  • Real Name: Victor von Doom
  • Classification: Head of Rogue State
  • Nationality: Latverian
  • Criminal Record: Though accused of numerous crimes against humanity, Doom has never been arrested because of the diplomatic immunity conferred on him as a sovereign ruler.
  • Powers: Doom’s genius-level intellect is believed matched only by Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four.
  • Abilities: Superlative knowledge of technology and mysticism
  • Unique Weapon(s): Doom has constructed an impenetrable suit of armor for himself that greatly boosts his strength and conceals a number of deadly weapons.
  • Known History: Doom’s life story has been one of unparalleled ambition. Born to poor gypsies, he won a scholarship to an American university, where he drove to prove himself more brilliant than fellow student Reed Richards. A technological attempt to contact the land of the dead literally blew up in Doom’s face, disfiguring him horribly for life. But that did not stop his relentless drive; after mastering science, he went to the Far East to learn the mystic arts; then he returned to his native Latveria and conquered it single-handedly, placing the entire country under his authoritarian rule.
But one country is hardly enough for Doom’s massive ego. He wants to put the whole world under his heel, and without the constant vigilance of SHIELD, the Fantastic Four, and other heroes, he has the resources and drive to one day accomplish that goal.

Observations:
“We haven’t heard a peep from Doom since The Pulse hit, making everyone involved in global security very nervous. If I was of a more optimistic bent I’d hope The Pulse killed the electronics in his suit, trapping him in it. If so, that would have made The Pulse the best thing to ever happen to humanity.

But I don’t think that. What I really think is that we haven’t heard from Doom because he’s plotting his next move, post-Pulse. It will be big. It will be bad. And we need to find out what that is, people.” — Maria Hill

X-Ray

X-Ray

  • Classification: Professional Criminal
  • Nationality: American
  • Powers: Cosmic rays transmogrified Darnell into an anthropomorphic wisp of concentrated radiation. He can fly, he can turn himself invisible, and he’s almost entirely invulnerable to physical attacks; the only things that seem to affect him are items built from substances naturally resistant to radiation. He can fire concentrated bursts of radioactive force that can destroy physical objects and stagger enemies. Even when he doesn’t destroy anything, SHIELD now knows enough about the long-term effects of radiation exposure to understand it’s never a good idea to have X-Ray around for long.
  • Known History: Darnell was an engineer and rocket fuel scientist who was part of Simon Utrecht’s fateful space voyage through a volley of cosmic rays. Utrecht told his passengers they’d all have superpowers like Reed Richards and the rest of the Fantastic Four acquired in similar circumstances. Bruce Banner (in his non-Hulk form at the time) brought their ship back to Earth before they’d all gotten their fill of radiation. They never forgave him for it, and the U-Foes (as they call themselves) have been a thorn in the Hulk’s side ever since.

Observations: “Fun fact: Darnell’s sister Ann turned into Vapor. Quite literally. That’s what she goes by these days.” — Jasper Sitwell
