• Known History: Steel was the pilot of the spacecraft involved in industrialist Simon Utrecht’s successful attempt to recreate the accident that granted the Fantastic Four their powers. Unfortunately, Utrecht wanted to gain cosmic ray abilities for himself and his three crewmembers to amass vast personal power. Ironclad gained powers analogous to the monstrous Thing, and along with his fellow “U-Foes,” as Utrecht chose to call his quartet, he has been a threat to humanity ever since.
