• Known History: After distinguished service in the air force and the CIA, Carol Danvers became head of security for NASA’s Cape Canaveral. She grew suspicious of an eccentric astrophysicist Walter Lawson in connection with recent security breaches. Following Lawson to a cavern that housed a secret alien facility, Danvers was shocked to discover that Lawson was in fact a guise of a Kree secret agent, Captain Mar-Vell. 

One of the extraterrestrial devices inside the cave exploded during a battle between Mar-Vell and another Kree, and Danvers barely escaped with her life. But she discovered the alien technology transformed her human cells, turning her into a warrior of superhuman ability.
